What services does OCA provide?

We provide exceptional care in the following areas: Adult Orthopedics, Pediatric Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Knee and Shoulder Surgery, Non-operative care of spinal disorders, Total/Partial/and Minimally Invasive Joint Replacement, and Workers Compensation. Our primary goal is to restore your physical activity to previous levels and prevent future problems.






What do I need to know about making my appointment?

Appointments for in office care are scheduled 8am to 5pm Monday-Friday. When you call for an appointment, please specify whether you are a patient of Dr. Prager or Dr. Whittenburg. Your visit will be with the doctor of your choice. However, on occasion, to give you an urgent appointment, we may need to schedule you with the first available physician. Also, if you are hospitalized or is seen in an emergency situation, you may be seen by our physicians or the physicians with whom we share call.


What happens if I am late, miss, or cancel my appointment?

To best accommodate all of our patients with timely appointments, we request 24 hours notice if you must cancel an appointment. You may be billed for failure to keep an appointment. If a patient arrives more than 20 minutes late, the visit may need to be rescheduled. We thank you for your timely cooperation.


What if I don't want to make an appointment but need to speak to someone in the office?

Please make routine calls, medication refills or billing questions between 8am and 4pm Monday thru Friday. If you need medical advice during office hours, one of our physician's assistants, nurses or physicians will be happy to return your call. Our staff is well trained to take information from callers and relate it to the physicians or other medical staff. Your call will be returned and the doctor may recommend a particular treatment or medication, or you may be asked to be seen at our office. Please have a list of symptoms and medications when you call. Please also have a paper and pencil ready for advice when you call.


If I leave a message will someone call me back that day?
Return phone calls
are made continuously throughout the day. We make every effort to return patient phone calls within an hour. If you feel it is necessary to speak with the physician, just inform our staff, and your request will be relayed.


Can I call in for prescription refills?
If you need a prescription refilled, please call the pharmacy where you prescription was last filled. The pharmacy will contact our office if a new prescription is needed. Prescription requests received before noon will be called in the same day. If they are received after noon, they may not be called in until the next business day. Routine prescription refills will not be called in after hours or on a weekend.


What can I expect if I am told I need surgery?
Orthopedic Center of Arlington offers a comprehensive array of both inpatient and outpatient surgical services. Our surgery center offers modern facilities and state of the art equipment. It is conveniently located on the first floor of the adjacent hospital building.





What do I do in case of an emergency?

If you have a medical emergency after hours go to the nearest emergency room. The on-call doctor will be contacted. Our physicians see emergency patients and admit patients to are:
